new Yogurt
Just a quick note, I decided to make another yogurt (actually, before the flat bread stuff). I had that little 8 oz. jar of "starter" yogurt in the fridge, and it'd been sitting there awhile, so I thought I'd put it to use. (Does it go bad once it's been made and "canned" or "jarred," and if so, how long will it last?)
Well, I bought some Dannon just in case. When I got to that point, it smelled fine, but there was some consistency problems--that some of it was more solid and some more liquid (it was separating). It didn't smell bad though, so I used it and made up for what stuck to the lid with just a bit of Dannon.
Oh, but this time I added 6 Tbsp. of powdered milk. The recipe I have says to add 4 Tbsp. for extra thickness, but it wasn't enough last time, so I added 6 this time and maybe 8 next time. I'm not sure what I'm going for, but I don't want liquid yogurt that resembles milk.
Once finished, I hung a quart to make some yogurt cheese... mmmmmm good! I love making stuff. Maybe it's more healthy, maybe not, but it's fun to think that it might just be better than the store bought stuff.
