My first wine
Maybe it was bound to happen. I don't know. So now a friend and I have gone in together on a wine kit from the local brew shop. We bought the kit, and the corker, and started in (he had the other stuff we needed).
We bottled the wine on Saturday, so I've not posted since we started. It's a 42-day process to bottling and then a recommended 2-3 month aging duration. So ask me how it is in 2 months (or less).
The kit made 30 bottles, so we each have 15 bottles. With a shelf-life of 5 years, we're going to save one bottle for each anniversary, so 10 bottles, but that should last a good long time. It's a fun hobby, but I guess you have to enjoy the process as well as the product.

Bergamais
This supple, fruity and delicate red "nouveau style" wine is typically consumed young and is at its best when served slightly chilled.

One of the things I was wondering when we first started wine-from-a-kit was how it would taste at first, but then later on too. It has been about a month now, and my wife and I opened a new bottle this week. Both she and I agree that either it's getting better, or we still know little to nothing about wine. Either way, from our perspective, we like it as if it's getting better.
I have noticed that the corks are taking on a darker red where they touch the wine when compared to the first bottle. I wonder if this signifies something. Also, the flavor seems to be a bit more tart now. I wonder if this is an aging process, or if it's the nature of the Bergamais.
I have lots of questions, but it's fun to cultivate an interest.
